Starting today, every RackWorks product includes free weekly offsite backups. Every Sunday at 1:00 AM, a copy of your server is stored on physical bare metal in a separate facility, away from our Detroit data center. There is nothing to switch on and nothing extra on your invoice. If you already have a plan with us, you are already covered.

Two Layers of Protection

A backup only helps if it still exists on the day you need it. That is why your server now has two independent layers of protection, each built for a different job.

Instant snapshots you control. Snapshots are stored onsite and are entirely in your hands. Take one from the Backups tab in the client portal before an upgrade or a risky change, or set a daily, weekly or monthly schedule. Each new snapshot replaces the previous one, so your latest copy is always the one ready to restore. Restoring takes a single click, it happens right away, and no ticket is needed.

A weekly offsite copy. The new offsite backup is a separate copy, stored on physical bare metal in another facility. It does not live in the same building as your server, so it is there for the days when an onsite copy is not enough. We keep the last 4 weekly copies, which means you can go back up to four Sundays.

Every Product Is Covered

Offsite backups are included free on every product we sell:

The SMB Starter Kit already includes a daily onsite backup, where the latest copy is kept. The weekly offsite copy now sits on top of it, so a small business website and its email are protected both inside and outside our data center.

Restoring From an Offsite Copy

Offsite restores are handled by our team through a support ticket. In the client portal, open Support Tickets, click New Ticket, and tell us which server you need restored (its name or IP address), which Sunday's copy you want, and what you need back.

For everyday rollbacks, a portal snapshot is still the quickest option, because you can restore it yourself in one click. The offsite copy is the one to reach for when you need to go further back, or when an onsite copy will not do.

The full details, including a side by side comparison of snapshots and offsite backups, are in our knowledge base: Free Weekly Offsite Backups: How They Work and How to Restore.

Why It Is Free

A backup that sits next to the server it protects shares that server's risks. Keeping a copy in a separate facility removes that single point of failure, and we think that should be part of every plan rather than an add-on you have to remember to buy.

Offsite backups come with every plan. Browse our KVM VPS, LXC, Windows RDP VPS, VDS and SMB Starter Kit plans and pick the one that fits your workload.
