KVM is a full, self-contained virtual machine: it runs its own operating system independently of everything else on the server, so you can install almost any OS and it behaves like a real dedicated machine. LXC is a lighter-weight container that shares some of the host's underlying system, which makes it a little faster and cheaper to run, but it only runs Linux. For most websites, apps, and self-hosted tools, LXC works great. Choose KVM if you want maximum flexibility, need to run something other than Linux (like FreeBSD), or want the strongest separation from other servers.
Upgrades are self-service: choose a larger plan from the client portal and the change takes effect right away, with the cost prorated for the rest of your billing cycle. Downgrades to a smaller plan are not self-service; open a support ticket and we will help you switch.
No. All plans are unmanaged: you get full root access and control over your environment. If you want a web control panel, CyberPanel and HestiaCP are available as one-click installs from the app marketplace.
KVM supports a wide range: Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, CentOS, Fedora, Alpine, Arch Linux, openSUSE, NixOS, and the BSDs (FreeBSD and OpenBSD). LXC supports Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, CentOS, Fedora, Alpine, Arch Linux, and NixOS. You can also do a clean OS reinstall at any time from the client portal without losing your assigned IP.
Yes on both plan types. KVM supports Docker natively. LXC containers have nesting enabled, which is required for Docker to run inside a container.
Yes, backups are included on all plans at no extra cost. You can set a recurring schedule (daily, weekly, or monthly) from the client portal, or run a snapshot on demand at any time. Restoring to any saved backup is a single click from the portal with no support ticket required. Backups are full disk snapshots.
Yes. Our Dedicated Core plans (DC-1, DC-2, and DC-4) give you physical CPU cores reserved just for your server, instead of cores shared with other customers. They come with 1, 2, or 4 dedicated cores and are a good fit for steady, CPU-heavy workloads that need consistent performance.
Yes. The app marketplace has more than 45 one-click applications you can install on your server straight from the portal, including WordPress, Nextcloud, Ghost, Gitea, and Docker, control panels like CyberPanel and HestiaCP, and self-hosted tools like Vaultwarden and Jellyfin. Pick an app and we handle the install for you.
We accept all major credit and debit cards via Stripe, PayPal, and Bitcoin. Billing is monthly. No annual lock-in required.
Services bill monthly from the date of activation. If you have a card on file, it is automatically charged when your invoice is generated. You can view all invoices and payment history in the client portal.
Cancel any time from the client portal. There are no contracts or cancellation fees. Your server stays active through the end of the current billing period.
We handle refund requests on a case-by-case basis. If you have a concern, open a support ticket and we will work with you. We do not offer automated pro-rated refunds on cancellation.
Yes. If you cancel and change your mind, you can reverse the cancellation from the client portal any time before the end of your current billing period, and your server keeps running as normal. You can start a cancellation from the Cancel Service button in your server's header or from the Cancel Service tab.
Outbound traffic is throttled to 10 Mbps for the rest of the billing cycle. Inbound traffic is unmetered and unaffected. Full speed restores automatically at the start of your next billing period.
All servers are in 123Net's Southfield, Michigan facility at 24700 Northwestern Hwy. Detroit-IX is on-site, giving you Detroit-IX connected upstream routing to 90+ networks. See the data center page for details.
Yes. Every server gets a dedicated IPv4 address and a /64 IPv6 block. You can set a custom IPv6 reverse DNS (PTR) record directly from the client portal.
We automatically filter common network-level attacks at the infrastructure level. We do not offer add-on protection against very large or sophisticated attacks, so if that is a concern for your workload, we recommend putting a service like Cloudflare in front of your server.
Yes. You can create private virtual networks (VNets) in the client portal and attach multiple servers to them. Your servers can then talk to each other over a private network, separate from the public internet.
Yes. The client portal shows a bandwidth usage history graph for your server, so you can track how much data you have transferred and how close you are to your monthly allowance. If you do go over, outbound traffic is simply throttled for the rest of the cycle, never billed as an overage.
Most servers provision in under 5 minutes after payment clears. You will receive an email with your IP address, root password, and SSH access details once it is ready.
Yes. The client portal provides a browser-based VNC console for KVM VMs and a shell console for LXC containers. This lets you access your server even if SSH is broken or the network is misconfigured.
Yes, from the client portal at any time. Reinstalling wipes the disk and redeploys the OS from a fresh template. Your IP address and hostname are preserved.
All servers run on Dell PowerEdge hardware with Intel Xeon processors. Storage is NVMe or SSD depending on the plan.
Yes, on KVM plans. From the ISO tab in the client portal you can paste a direct download link to any ISO file (up to 10 GB), and we fetch it and attach it to your server as a virtual CD-ROM. You can boot from it to install a custom operating system or to run a rescue environment. You can keep one custom ISO on file at a time; delete it to swap in another.
Quite a lot, without ever opening a support ticket. You can start, stop, and reboot your server, open a console, manage firewall rules, add SSH keys, reset your root password, schedule power actions, set reverse DNS, run and restore backups, install one-click apps, buy add-ons like extra IP addresses, and add account credit. Most day-to-day tasks are self-service.
